DC's Travis Pastrana and Ken Block have both scored the cover of the new Racer X Illustrated with a unique photo taken in Utah. It features Ken jumping his Subaru Rally car, and Travis back flipping his dirtbike over Ken's flying Subi!
About the photo, Ken said, "I came up with that idea of having the car jump with Travis doing the back flip over it just because I thought it would make a really unique photo. It accentuates the two of us together, him from his Moto and FMX background and me from a Moto and Rally background. That photo sort of puts all that together in one shot."
Inside the issue there's a tear out poster from that same rally-slash-freestyle motocross session. For this particular photo the crew set up flames down in the gap, which Ken and Travis gladly jumped over to take the stunt to a whole other level.
The cover and poster lead nicely into this month's feature article, centered around motocross, rally racing, and the connection between the two high-adrenaline sports. Read it and you'll understand why a two-wheel legend like Travis Pastrana is so stoked on (and damn good at) rally. The same sentiment goes for Ken, who's been riding dirt bikes forever and has become a top Rally contender and earned a reputation for having way too much fun in his rally car (exhibit A: the stunt with Trav for this Racer X cover).
