Round two of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series in Phoenix, AZ was a race to see and was anything but ordinary. First heat race for the lites class Broc Tickle went down at the start sending him to the LCQ. Both Searle and Anstie made it straight to the main. Tickle got the holeshot in the LCQ and took the win.
Main event for the lites DC athletes, Tickle went from way back in the pack to take fifth in the main. Searle finished seventh, and Anstie made a few mistakes but got back and charged to finish 15th for the night.
The night began dramatically for the 450 class when points leader James Stewart was involved in a frightening crash during his heat race. The San Manuel Yamaha rider overcame obvious pain to compete in the last chance qualifier where he took the win and qualified for the main event. Josh Hill was on it all night setting the fastest time in the third practice. Both Hill and Millsaps made it out of the first heat race with ease. As the gates dropped for the 450 main, Dungey raced to his second straight SPIKE Holeshot Award, with Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto and factory Suzuki rider Austin Stroupe all in the top three. Hill saw he had a chance to get by Stroupe then made his move early on in the race. Hill then settled in third and stayed there until the checkered flag. Millsap’s finished in the 9th for the night. Hill now sits in third in the point’s standings.
Next week A2…look out because its going to be a mudder, which means its anyone’s race to win.
